Today’s book, The Wonderful Things You Will Be, is another beautiful and whimsical children’s book by Emily Winfield Martin. It is such a special addition to any child’s library, and one that brings most parents to tears(or is that just me?). The Wonderful Things You Will Be follows children from infancy to school age as they grow, learn, create, help, perform, & step into their own. As always, Martin includes a diverse cast of kiddo characters, all working together while discovering individuality.
The most abstract of concepts are made simple by her pairing of poetic language with fanciful portraits! For babies and toddlers especially, as we’ve said, visual representation is so important when raising anti-racist children and showing a realistic world. Diversity is something to be noted and cherished, just like the messages in this book.
